Finance Report

e. Kurt Bruckmeier has purchased one mile marker.

f. Southern Pine donated all mile markers posts and paid $175 to get a mile marker post.

g. Bancorp South has also committed to purchase a mile marker.

h. Have appropriated $40,000 from Longleaf Trace to be paid only for the trail. So far we have purchased culverts and field dirt out of that money. Epley to Sumrall should be completed with some money left over that should help to get past Sumrall toward Bassfield.

i. The Longleaf Trace board has approved paying to get the trees cut and removed because they could not get anyone to volunteer to get them out.

j. Game and Fish Commission is working on building the beaver pond. $12k will be committed to getting the trail extended from Epley to the beaver pond.

New Business

k. Sponsors for the large sign cost $3,000 and mile markers would be $1,000 or donation equivalent. We already have four mile markers committed at $1,000. Once we get the sample ready to show the sponsors, we may have more. Motion made to accept these prices for sponsors as is. We may decide later to split the sign in half $500 for each side. Motion made by Paige, seconded by Lamar. All were in favor with none opposed.

l. Traci has a rubber water trough she will donate for Epley station. Dale can bring his backhoe to run the water lines.

m. Johnny spoke to Lowland water association about 4 miles out of Bassfield about donating some water to the trail and they agreed. We need to look into a sign for them donating the water.

n. Paige will contact Hub City West Feed about donating a water trough.

o. Iron bracket sample was presented to the board for approval. Picture of sample will be provided to the members via email and actual bracket will be brought to next meeting. Cost for each bracket is plus the sign will be about $100, posts were donated. We already have them working on making 12 to start. Nancy Leader writes articles for the Hattiesburg American and will write an article about the mile markers with a picture.

p. Working on post tops that were donated to be cut for the mile markers.

q. The big sign will say Longleaf Trace Equestrian Trail with the 4 sponsors.

r. Saddle tags are being worked on and printed and hopefully will be in next Thursday. We’ll use a different color each year. It’s tan for 2006.

s. Nancy suggested we have a donation box at the USM station with our logo on it. We may choose to put one at the beaver pond or Epley as well.

t. Parking spaces have been made at the Sumrall station where the old pulpwood yard used to be. It’s about an acre that will allow more space for horse trailers. The county is going to go behind the restrooms and build that space up also. Should put up a sign for trailer parking.

u. Lamar County has been spraying the trail for bugs running all night.

v. Booth set aside for Longleaf Trace Trail Riders at the November 16 - 18 open livestock show at Lamar County Multi-purpose Center. Midway opens at 5pm Thursday evening, 6pm on Friday and 7am on Saturday. We will need volunteers to man the booth at least on Saturday and more if possible on Thursday and Friday. Sign up sheet will be at next meeting.

w. October 21st is the 4D Barrel race at the Lamar County Multi Purpose center.

x. Next Longleaf Trace Board meeting is Wednesday, October 4 at 10:00am.

y. Next meeting on Thursday, October 26th at 6:30pm in Bassfield at Four K Stables.

Being no further business President Greg Lowery declared the meeting was adjourned as of approximately 8:10 pm.
