A Jerry Ryan Memorial bike ride was held Sunday November 2 at the Southern Miss Gateway of the Longleaf Trace. Over 100 persons came to honor the memory of a great man and friend, and to help each other deal with the loss they all felt. After a few words by John Harsh about Jerry's contributions to the biking community, a memorial ride was held from the Gateway to Jackson Station and back, with about 90 people riding. The rest stops and weather stations along the course had been decorated with memorial ribbons. Refreshments were served after the ride, and pictures Of Jerry and several floral wreaths were on display. Donations were accepted and the Longleaf Trace plans to use the Jerry Ryan Memorial Fund monies to improve and dedicate some part of the Trace in Jerry's memory. Many thanks to Butch and Suzanne Sims, Nancy Munn, James Moore, John Harsh, and everyone who helped to organize the ride and provide the refreshments. See the pictures taken at the Memorial ride. |
